Dear Dr Phitidis I am contacting you to arrange an urgent appointment, if possible, for my mother. My mother Panayiota Georghiou is 83yrs and has always been a very healthy and active woman. My mother suffered a major fall in Sept 2021 and fractured her femur. She underwent surgery and has been rehabilitating slowly since the surgery. Approx 3 months ago she caught Covid-19. experiencing a couch and lethargy. She also suffered a fall and fractured her other hip. Following Covid, her breathlessness deteriorated significantly. She was eventually found to have bilateral pulmonary emboli. She was anti-coagulated for the PE and improved rapidly but then , while in hospital she contracted acinitobacter chest infection. She was isolated , treated and discharged. She has recently undergone repair of the fractured hip but has become increasingly breathless again with a productive cough and wheeze. Her sputum has grown pseudomonas and this has also now been treated. Despite treatment, she is still very breathless, with a productive cough and extremely wheezy. She has been to A&E on numerous occasions and they have given repeat antibiotics and informed her that she has pneumonia. I would very much like an opinion from an expert like yourself and any investigations you feel are necessary. Please can you kindly let us know you next availability.
